POSTER DESIGN
CHALLENGE
Chapman University is looking for a poster design that will encompass this year's State of the University theme, which is “Research.” The purpose of this poster has been compared to that of a movie poster; it should encompass where the university is presently at and where it is headed.
SOLUTION
The poster’s layout is inspired by vintage science diagrams to represent how integral research has been throughout Chapman's history. The focal point of the poster is an atom with protons and neutrons orbiting the nucleus. The crossing between the four orbiting rings creates Chapman’s fenestra, which represents a window of opportunity. In the cut-out of the atom, reflective of nucleus diagrams, are detailed illustrations of recognizable buildings on Chapman’s campus. Depicting Chapman buildings being integrated into an atom represents how foundational research at Chapman is to our knowledge advancement.
