RECIPES FOR SOMEONE YOU LOVE
COOKBOOK DESIGN
CHALLENGE
Loose Leaf Press is commissioning a two-volume series of cookbooks that emphasize the relationship between cooking and self care. The cookbook should highlight mental health and the benefits of practicing self love, both alone and with others. Studies have shown that people enjoy healthy food more when they cook it themselves. The act of cooking can activate creativity, stress relief, and a feeling of happiness.
SOLUTION
Recipes for Someone You Love is an interactive cookbook series that promotes a healthy relationship between cooking and self-care by incorporating reflective questions with recipes that can be done alone and with others. A realistic, personal illustration of the meal is featured on the left side of each spread to oppose its recipe. Below each meal title is a recurring heart-shaped character posing next to a reflective question and space to fill in your answer. These questions allow the user to reflect on their answer as they cook, either introspectively or in conversation with others depending on the respective cookbook edition. Each book is opposite colors to one another to create a cohesive series.
